Create tags that match your own workflow

Tags are freely assignable text labels rather than a fixed classification system. You decide what they mean and which photos belong to each group.

A project might use tags such as Portrait, Landscape, Client Selection, Print or Needs Review. These are only examples; ViolaScope does not prescribe a particular tag structure.

Use tags alongside ratings, labels and culling

Tags form an additional organizational layer. They are independent of star ratings, favorites, color labels and culling states.

That means one photo can carry a tag while also having its own rating, color label and Pick, Hold or Reject state. Changing a tag does not automatically change those other decisions.

Filter the project by tag

A tag filter can limit the visible working set to photos that belong to one of your self-defined groups. This is useful when a project contains several subjects or when you want a temporary working group without moving image files into separate folders.

In ViolaScope 1.0, one filter type is active at a time. Switching from a tag filter to a rating, color or culling filter replaces the previous active filter.

Project tags stay separate from other metadata workflows

The tags described here are part of the ViolaScope project workflow. This feature is separate from GPX geotagging and from the display or export of IPTC and XMP metadata.

Filtering or assigning project tags does not alter the visual content of your original photos.
